Processing and Regulation Agents
Quicklime
3. Chemical Applications in Mining
Quicklime is the chemical "brain" of ore processing, particularly in gold extraction:
pH Regulation: Essential in cyanide leaching systems. Maintaining a high pH (generally > 10.5) prevents the formation of highly toxic cyanide gas (HCN).
Precipitation of Impurities: It allows the removal of heavy metals (such as iron, copper, or zinc) from treatment solutions by precipitating them as hydroxides.
Wastewater Treatment: Used to neutralize acidic effluents and stabilize sludge before discharge or storage.
Agglomeration: In heap leaching, it helps bind fine ore particles to ensure better permeability of the solutions.
4. Key Benefits of Minerex Quicklime
Choosing quicklime from Minerex guarantees immediate operational advantages:
Metallurgical Efficiency: A high available CaO content means you use less product to achieve the same pH result, thus reducing your consumption costs.
Process Stability: Our rigorous quality control ensures consistent responsiveness, preventing dangerous fluctuations in processing circuits.
Controlled Logistics: With our facilities in Bamako, Abidjan, and Conakry, we secure your stock to prevent any production downtime due to supply disruptions.
Safety and Compliance: Our packaging is designed to protect the product from atmospheric humidity, preserving its chemical potency until use.

Quicklime (calcium oxide) is a fundamental component of the mining and water treatment industries. At Minerex, we supply high-purity quicklime (85%–92%), specifically selected to meet the rigorous requirements of mining sites in West Africa.
Here is a detailed overview of this strategic reagent:
1. Chemical Aspect
Quicklime is obtained by the thermal calcination of limestone at extremely high temperatures (approximately 900°C).
Chemical Formula: CaO
Hydration Reaction: When it comes into contact with water, it reacts violently (exothermic reaction) to become slaked lime.
Properties: It is a strong base, capable of neutralizing acids and precisely regulating the pH of aqueous solutions.
2. Technical Specifications
We ensure that our product meets the following performance criteria:
Purity (Active CaO): Available CaO > 85% - 92%
Other specifications: Reactivity (< 2 min (High)) - MgO (Magnesium) < 2% - 3% - SiO (Silica) < 1.5% - Sulfur (S) < 0.1%
Physical form: Granules (clumps) or fine powder
Reactivity: High (measured by hydration time)
Packaging type: Big Bags (Jumbo Bags) 1000 kg to 1500 kg. Mining standard. Woven PP bags with a waterproof inner lining to protect against moisture. 25 kg / 50 kg bags. For small-scale artisanal units or manual pH adjustments.
